Dryness, fine lines, elasticity — every concern is differentA skin booster tailored to your skin condition

Skin Booster (PDRN · Exosomes · hADM)

Skin booster is the general term for treatments that inject skin-regenerating ingredients directly into the dermis; the skin condition each suits differs by ingredient, such as PDRN, exosomes or hADM.

01

Overview

Skin booster is the general term for treatments that inject ingredients that help the skin regenerate directly into the dermis. Unlike filler, it does not fill volume; the aim is to improve the skin's own hydration, elasticity and texture. Dryness, fine lines, loss of elasticity, pores and redness are different kinds of concern, and the ingredient that suits each differs too.

PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) helps damaged skin regenerate, and exosomes, which carry signals between cells, are used to calm inflammation and create an environment for regeneration. hADM (human-derived acellular dermal matrix) replenishes the structural components of the dermis to reinforce the thickness and elasticity of thinned skin. Hyaluronic acid-based boosters hold water to improve dryness and fine lines.

Atelier Plastic Surgery does not choose the ingredient first; it looks at the skin first. After checking the thickness and dryness of the skin, the degree of sagging and your previous treatment history, we decide the ingredient, the injection depth and the number of sessions. Dr. Juyoung Go has lectured at a conference on using filler and skin boosters together in the structural approach to the lower face.

Surgery & treatment methods

01

PDRN · PN type

PDRN and PN (polynucleotide), DNA fragments extracted from sources such as salmon, are injected into the dermis to help damaged skin regenerate. Used when the skin barrier has weakened and the skin is sensitive, or when fine lines and loss of elasticity occur together. Usually about 3 sessions at intervals of 2–4 weeks.

Suited for · Fine lines, loss of elasticity, sensitized skin
02

Exosomes

Exosomes, tiny vesicles secreted by cells, are delivered to the skin to calm inflammation and create an environment for regeneration. They are used on their own, or applied or injected after Pico MLA or microneedling to aid recovery.

Suited for · Redness, acne scars, recovery after laser treatment
03

hADM (human-derived acellular dermal matrix)

hADM is human dermis from which the cells have been removed, leaving only structural components such as collagen; it is injected in micronized form to reinforce a thinned dermis. The focus is on building the thickness and elasticity of the skin rather than volume, and in the structural approach to the lower face it divides the work with filler.

Suited for · Thin skin where sagging has begun; loss of elasticity at the nasolabial folds, mouth area and jawline
04

Hyaluronic acid hydrating boosters

Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid is injected evenly through the layers of the skin to hold water. Suited to dryness, fine lines and skin on which makeup does not sit well. Unlike volume filler, it does not create shape.

Suited for · Dryness, fine lines, rough and dull skin texture

Atelier Plastic Surgery's approach

  1. 01
We look at the skin condition before the ingredient

Even the same fine lines differ: lines caused by dryness and lines caused by a thinning dermis are not the same. We check the skin's thickness, hydration and elasticity, and any redness or pigmentation, then choose the ingredient that fits the purpose. If needed, two ingredients are used at different times.

  2. 02
Injection depth and method are matched to the ingredient

Each ingredient works in a different layer. We distinguish ingredients that must be spread evenly in the shallow dermis from those that belong in the deep dermis, and choose between injection by hand and by device according to the area and the ingredient.

  3. 03
Filler and skin booster each have their role

Lost volume is the job of filler; thinned skin is the job of a skin booster. Sagging of the lower face often involves both, so we plan filler that builds structure and a skin booster that reinforces the skin together. This is the structural approach to the lower face that Dr. Juyoung Go has lectured on at a conference.

  4. 04
We do not push the number or frequency of sessions

A skin booster is not a treatment that makes a large change in one go. We carry out a few sessions at intervals of 2–4 weeks, in step with the skin's recovery cycle, and then set the maintenance interval by looking at the condition.

After surgery

  1. Immediately after

Needle marks remain as small dots, and the area may become red or swell. Depending on the ingredient, small bumps may be felt under the skin; most are absorbed within 1–3 days.

  2. Same day

Wash your face gently and do not rub the treated area. Makeup is recommended from the next day; avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise.

  3. 2–3 days

Redness and needle marks fade and the swelling settles. Any bruising mostly disappears in about a week. Keep up moisturizing and sun protection.

  4. 1–2 weeks

The hydration and texture of the skin surface are the first changes you notice. We confirm the timing of the next session.

  5. After 3 sessions

Depending on the ingredient, changes in elasticity and fine lines appear gradually as the treatment is repeated. After that, we set the maintenance schedule by checking the condition at 3–6-month intervals.

Recovery care and the aftercare schedule are described in the Safety Care System. Safety Care System

Side effects · Precautions

After skin booster treatment, redness, swelling, bruising and pain at the injection sites and needle marks may occur, and mostly improve within a few days. If the ingredient does not spread evenly, small nodules or unevenness may be felt, and rarely infection, an allergic reaction or pigmentation may occur. Ingredients derived from human tissue, such as hADM, and exosomes may rarely cause a foreign-body reaction or an inflammatory reaction. Hyaluronic acid-based boosters injected too shallowly may show through the skin temporarily. Treatment may be restricted if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or dermatitis in the treatment area, or are allergic to a particular ingredient (for example, a fish allergy with fish-derived ingredients such as PDRN). The degree of effect and how long it lasts vary by individual, and several sessions are usually needed.

FAQ

Q1What is the difference between a skin booster and filler?
Filler fills volume in a hollowed area to create shape; a skin booster improves the skin's own hydration, elasticity and texture. A lack of volume and thinning skin are different problems, so at consultation we distinguish which is the main cause.
Q2How do you decide which ingredient suits me?
We decide after checking the skin's thickness, dryness, elasticity and redness, and your previous treatment history. If dryness and fine lines are the main concern, we consider hyaluronic acid-based boosters or PDRN first; if the skin has thinned and sagging has begun, hADM; if redness and recovery are the goal, exosomes.
Q3How many sessions are needed before there is an effect?
It depends on the ingredient, but about 3 sessions at 2–4-week intervals are usually regarded as one course. Hydration is felt within 1–2 weeks, and changes in elasticity and fine lines appear gradually over the sessions. This varies by individual.
Q4Can I return to daily life right after treatment?
Yes. Needle marks and redness may remain for about 1–3 days, so it is best to avoid treatment just before an important event. Makeup is recommended from the next day.
Q5Can I have it together with Ultherapy or filler?
Yes, and in fact they are often planned together. The order is to address sagging with a lifting treatment, build structure with filler, and then reinforce the skin's foundation with a skin booster. The interval between treatments is set at consultation.
