If pores, scars and fine lines are your concernPico MLA: fine stimulation that supports regeneration
Pico MLA (Pores · Scars · Fine Lines)
Pico MLA is a treatment that applies a lens array to the pico laser to create fine stimulation beneath the skin, improving pores, scars and fine lines.
01
Overview
Pico MLA is a treatment that applies a micro lens array (MLA) to the pico laser. The lens array focuses the laser energy into very small points, creating tiny spaces beneath the epidermis while leaving the skin surface almost untouched. As the skin recovers from this fine stimulation, it produces new collagen and elastin.
It is used for pores, acne scars, fine lines and rough skin texture. Because it does not ablate the skin the way a fractional laser does, downtime is relatively short and the risk of pigmentation is comparatively low. It is not a treatment that produces a large change in a single session, however, so it is carried out over several sessions.
Atelier Plastic Surgery sets the energy and number of passes according to your skin condition and the shape of your scars, and, if needed, plans the sequence together with a skin booster or pico toning.

Surgery & treatment methods
01
Full-face Pico MLA
The lens array is applied across the whole face. Fine stimulation is created evenly beneath the epidermis, and you can expect an improvement in the texture and elasticity of the skin as a whole. Redness and pinpoint bleeding may remain for about 2–5 days after treatment.

02
Targeted treatment of scarred areas
Areas with acne scars are treated with higher energy and several overlapping passes. The response depends on the shape of the scar: shallow, wide scars respond better than deep, narrow ones. For deep scars we consider combining other methods.

03
Combined with pico toning · skin booster
If pigmentation is also present, pico toning is done first on the same day, and to aid recovery after treatment an exosome or PDRN-type skin booster is applied or injected. The combination and sequence are decided by your skin condition.

Atelier Plastic Surgery's approach
01
We look at the shape of scars and pores first
Acne scars respond differently depending on their shape. Shallow, wide scars can be expected to improve with Pico MLA alone, but deep, narrow scars call for other treatments to be considered alongside it. At consultation we identify the type of scar and explain the degree of improvement you can expect.
02
We divide treatment into sessions at an energy your skin can tolerate
Raising the energy delivers more stimulation in one go, but pinpoint bleeding and redness last longer and the risk of pigmentation increases. We set the energy to the thickness and sensitivity of your skin and divide treatment into sessions at 3–4 week intervals.
03
We plan care that supports recovery
While the skin is producing collagen after treatment, creating a good environment for recovery with moisturizing, sun protection and, if needed, a skin booster helps the result. We guide you through not only the treatment itself but the care that follows.
06
After surgery
Immediately after
The skin is red and feels warm, and fine pinpoint bleeding (small red dots) may be visible. A cold compress settles the warmth.
Same day
Wash your face gently with lukewarm water and do not rub the treated area. We recommend makeup from the next day, and avoid saunas, alcohol and strenuous exercise.
2–5 days
Redness and pinpoint bleeding gradually fade. The skin may feel rough or tight, so moisturize well and apply sunscreen carefully.
1–2 weeks
The redness settles and you begin to feel the skin texture becoming smoother. The newly formed collagen gradually settles in over the following weeks.
3–4 weeks
The next session is carried out. Over 3–5 sessions, improvement in pores, scars and fine lines accumulates. This varies by individual.

Side effects · Precautions
After Pico MLA treatment, redness, warmth, swelling and pinpoint bleeding may occur, and these mostly improve within 2–5 days. If the energy is too high or the skin is sensitive, blistering, crusting or pigmentation may develop, and rarely infection or scarring may remain. Exposure to sunlight after treatment raises the risk of pigmentation. Treatment may be restricted or postponed if you have active acne, dermatitis or herpes, are pregnant, are taking photosensitizing medication or are prone to keloids. The degree of improvement in scars and pores varies considerably by individual, and deep scars may not disappear completely even after several sessions.

FAQ
Q1What is the difference between Pico MLA and pico toning?
They use the same pico laser but for different purposes. Pico toning breaks up pigment to brighten skin tone, while Pico MLA focuses the energy through a lens array to create fine stimulation beneath the epidermis, improving pores, scars and fine lines. The two are sometimes done together on the same day.
Q2Will my acne scars disappear?
It depends on the shape of the scars. Shallow, wide scars can be expected to become smoother over several sessions, but deep, narrow scars have limits with Pico MLA alone, so we consider combining it with other treatments. Making scars less noticeable, rather than removing them completely, is the realistic goal.
Q3How much downtime is there?
Redness and pinpoint bleeding usually remain for about 2–5 days. From the next day it can be covered with makeup, and if you have an important event, it is best to finish treatment at least a week beforehand.
Q4How many sessions do I need?
A course is usually 3–5 sessions at 3–4 week intervals. Collagen forms over several weeks after treatment, so changes appear gradually as the sessions progress. This varies by individual.
Q5Can I have it if I have active acne?
When there is a lot of inflammatory acne, it is best to postpone treatment. We plan to settle the acne first, then manage the scars and pores.
